Brendan McCarthy is a Irish film producer and screenwriter based in Dublin, Ireland. Together with John McDonnell, Brendan runs the Oscar-winning[1] production company Fantastic Films.

McCarthy is currently the Irish Eurimages delegate, the Film Consultant for the Arts Council of Ireland and the former Head of Production and Development for the Irish Film Board.
In his various positions throughout his career, he has been instrumental in the making of many award winning feature films, documentary and animation projects.[2] His Fantastic Films helped create Six Shooter which won the 78th Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 2006.[1]
He went on to the 2011 film Wake Wood, which he co-wrote with the director David Keating.
